Sources of electrical surges

The most common source of vehicle electrical surges results from a faulty alternator. The next most common surge is due to ESD Electrostatic Discharge and electromagnetic induced coupling.

Construction

Built using the latest technology components that are fast, powerful, and rugged. Using a combination of TVS Diodes, MOVs and GDTs this surge protector has reaction speeds faster than 3ns and is capable of up to 150,000 amps of surge suppression. Old style TVSS surge protectors incorporated a separate green ground wire, this often resulted in what is called a “ground loop”. This ground loop can cause damage to the electrical system and at least create noise, this problem was only exacerbated at high delta V.
